Jasmine Tyler McDonald

Jasmine McDonald is a 17 year old high school student living in Eagle Point, OR.  It was recently brought to our attention that Jasmine is in need of major oral surgery due to a condition called congenitally missing teeth.  When Jasmine was eleven years old her parents were informed that she had 13 permanent teeth missing.  Because this condition does not involve any other "medical diagnosis" the procedures that Jasmine needs will not be covered by her family's insurance.  Needless to say these procedures will not be inexpensive.  We'd like to help.

Dating back six years Jasmine has undergone two different sets of braces in an effort to properly position the teeth she does have.  By positioning her teeth the orthodontist hoped to make room for implanted teeth to be inserted in place of her missing teeth.  As of today both sets of braces have failed to properly position Jasmine's teeth correctly in order for her to receive the implants.  Her family is currently exploring options for a third set of braces.

Eventually, after Jasmine's teeth are positioned properly the orthodontist and oral surgeons will collaborate on a series of surgeries to prepare Jasmine's mouth for the implants.  She will need:

1.  Bone grafts to place bone where she has lost bone
2.  Skin grafts to cover the bone grafts
3.  Sinus lift so the implants will not interfere with her sinus'

Currently, Jasmine wears false teeth which she has to remove every evening.  Without going into a lot of detail these false teeth are extremely painful to insert and remove.  Without implants Jasmine will continue to lose gum and bone where she is missing teeth and will eventually have so much decay that it will cause changes to her jawline and mouth, giving the appearance of a sunken jaw.

Jasmine's parents are committed to helping her any way they are financially able.  However, we realize that this type of uncovered medical expense is a monumental task for almost any family to cover on their own.  If you feel led to assist this family as they navigate this situation, please submit your donation(s) via one of the methods listed on the right hand side of our blog.  Our hope is to provide regular updates about Jasmine's progress as well as the specific ways in which This One Thing, Inc. has been able to help.

As always, every penny that is donated to this organization will be given directly to our recipients!
